Privacy Policy

This policy explains how nathandale.com, an independent publication operated by Nathan Dale, handles information when you browse the site, become a member, make a payment, receive email, or contact me.

Information collected

Membership information. Ghost stores the name and email address you provide, your membership level, subscription status, signup source, and related account activity. If email measurement is enabled, Ghost may record newsletter deliveries, opens, and link clicks.

Payments. Stripe processes subscription, gift, and support payments. I may receive transaction details such as your name, email address, amount, payment status, subscription status, and refund history. I do not receive or store your complete payment-card number.

Site analytics. The site uses a first-party PostHog relay to understand visits and navigation. It may record pages viewed, links used, referrer and campaign information, browser language, approximate device and connection details, and a randomly generated listener identifier. The nd_listener_id first-party cookie lasts up to one year; a separate session identifier normally lasts for the browser session. This analytics code does not run when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

Messages. If you contact me, I receive the name, reply address, subject, and message you submit. The contact service also uses IP address and browser information temporarily for abuse prevention and rate limiting.

How information is used

Information is used to operate and secure the site, provide membership access, process payments and refunds, deliver requested email, respond to messages, prevent fraud and abuse, understand site performance, and meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations.

Service providers

Information is processed only as needed by providers that help operate this publication, including the self-hosted Ghost publishing platform, Stripe for payments, PostHog for site analytics, email-delivery providers, and hosting and infrastructure providers. Their own privacy terms also apply. Personal information is not sold, and it is not shared for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Retention and choices

Records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above, including account service, security, dispute resolution, and legal or financial recordkeeping. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email, manage membership through your member account, enable Do Not Track to disable the custom site analytics, or email hello@nathandale.com to request access, correction, or deletion where applicable. Some payment and transaction records must be retained for legal reasons.

Children, security, and changes

This service is not directed to children under 13. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Material changes will be posted here with a revised effective date.
